HSE Syllabus for week 5 (missed syllabus 4)--sorry!
)
Quote: “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” Albert Einstein
Tuesday, 10/5: AIEEEE! Who stole last week? Sorry about the missing syllabus: Andrew, you didn’t notice!
Mr. Tuesday is back!
Ass’t: make two edits/changes/additions to your blog, and post AT LEAST last week’s on-demand.
Editing options?
Classwork/homework: read and comment on someone’s entry. This person may not be sitting within one desk of you in any direction (Yes, I will check.).
h/w: work on your thesis paper more--another 30 - 45 minutes of pure work. Finish commenting if necessary.
NOTE: It is your responsibility to come see me for help on your thesis paper. Do an extra draft, firstclass me, meet with me before or after (but not Tuesday--sorry!), or during a study hall. If your only option is lunch, I can meet with you then. If you need more help than you can get in class, you must come see me!
Wed. 10/6: Advisor Day
Let’s finish up discussing Phoenix and look at the wheel: what is the elixir? What more does the story tell us about humanity than it seems at first read? (and does the hero’s journey idea help?)
30 mins for Conferences: Noah, Morgan, Katherine are starters.
h/w: read the Ode I give you. Note three strong images and try to figure out what the mood and message are. What is the Chorus saying here? Write answers/questions on sheet itself.
Thursday, 10/7 --Run ons, revisited
5 mins: How much of human life is decided by Fate and how much by free will?
a little story telling. . .
then reading p. 1 - 10.
h//w: git that paper finished! Graded draft due at start of class--printed, draft stapled to itself, all other material clipped underneath.
Friday, 10/8: ANOTHER FRIDAY! Hand in aforementioned graded draft
On-demand #3
Post to blog
h/w: read and comment on someone else’s, also not a near neighbor. Read p.10 - 26 (some should look familiar, yes???) in play. Complete vocab square. . .who am I kidding? No vocab OR on-demand next week! Relax in the thought that your thesis paper is now MY responsibility, not yours, and have a lovely three day weekend!
Tuesday, 10/12: Welcome back to a very strange week!
Sentence structure work
Possible reading quiz?
Discussion: don’t you love Teiresias? Where are we on the journey? ARE we on the journey? h/w: read Scene II. It’s long, but packed with intrigue!
