OKAY GANG! THERE ARE TWO BIG THINGS MOST OF YOU NEED TO BE WORKING ON.
I. DESIGN YOUR OWN READING ADVENTURE SHEETS--LIVE ASSIGNMENT
_____ I have completed ________ forms for my DYORA and handed them in.
_____ Ms. Leamon and I have chosen a book I will read.
_____ I have a copy of that book.
_____ I have tried out the book (read a few pages at least) and it works for me.
_____ I have looked over the Quick Check Form and know what’s expected from it.
DECEMBER STILLNESS WORK--due THURSDAY, Mar. 25: Social Responsibility Day
I have given you a list of important quotations from the novel (and you may locate more). To get credit for this part of the class, you need to choose FIVE of those quotations that fit together somehow and mean something to you, and you must
CREATE A PROJECT OR PAPER THAT EXPLAINS HOW THOSE PASSAGES CONNECT AND WHY THEY ARE IMPORTANT IN THE BOOK’S MESSAGE.
Paper: choose one message from the book and explain, in writing, how each passage develops that message. (Probably the easiest. Might have to do another draft for grammar, spelling, etc)
Project: Use pictures or images to show what one message from the book is, and include the passages that create that message. A mobile? A collage? A diorama? (Cut pics out of magazines or draw them; more complicated than paper but maybe more fun) Be sure you include an artist’s statement that explains how the quotations fit into the pictures/images or your grade won’t be higher than a 65.
What If I Didn’t Read Dec. Stillness?
If you are Nathaniel, Jordan DeS. or Daniel H, you are working on another book, so that’s fine. Work should be done at the same time the DS work is done: I am thinking THURSDAY.
If you were absent or just ignored DS, you are going to get other work to do--or makeup work for other stuff-- in the second half of class for the next few days, and you won’t get those points from the first book assignment.
