Sorry about the gap. . . I was somehow under the impression that I would be back on Monday, even though I knew I wouldn't be. . . Ah well.
Tuesday, May 19: Reorienting Ms. Leamon. . . .
review/check ins/peer sharing
Quick overview of project: for you: for each poem, you'll have a close-read to show your stuff, then a two part written section: an explanation of why you chose the poem (what you like about it, and maybe how it fits into your overall collection if that feels valuable) and then a focused discussion of what the poet is doing in the poem and how s/he is doing it, focusing on 4 - 6 key poetic/literary devices. Remember that your close-read will show your general knowledge; your discussion should focus on the poetic devices most integral to understanding and appreciating the poem. (Note: description in the project handout is a bit different, so see me if you are confused. I think the "plot" issue will be covered by the "what is poet doing" section.)
h/w: another close-read, more collecting, progress forward! Tuesday, after our Senior Ex. day and Spring Carnival day on Friday and our Memorial day on Monday, you should have two interviews done and all four scheduled or planned; you should also have all four close-reads done by that time.
**Conferences on Macbeth papers should be completed by Friday if possible. . . check my sched. on the board! Revisions would then be due by Friday, May 29, to give you a lot of leeway, given my absences!**
Wed. May 20: Advisor Day!
Discuss close-reads and "The Sea Gull's Eye"
Work time: go interview if you've got an appointment, or consult with me, or work work work.
h/w: Have collection finalized: fill out form on Google classroom, and complete a third close read.
Thursday, May 21: H/w club: I'll be here till 4 if you need poetry help or a paper conference!
Work time: I hope your on-demands back
Look at some sample projects?

Tuesday, May 26: Hi!
Pair/share your interviews: how did they go?
Hand in remaining close reads and any first drafts
WORK TIME!
h/w: work! Rough draft of interview layout is due Thursday, May 28! I should be seeing and reading drafts of your personal poem responses during class, if possible. You need feedback, and I need NOT to get 1000 things to read on the same day, so let's communicate about that!
