OBERLIN,Ohio - At Lorain County, the flag didn't sit as high as it normally does after news of 23-year-old Louis Torres circulated through the hallways. "Everybody loved Louis," said his English teacher Pam Mitchelle. She taught the sergeant in the Army for his junior and senior year. "Everybody is pretty distraught especially those of us who had him in class," she continued. Torres was killed in Afghanistan on August 6 after he was hit by an improvised explosive device or IED. He studied law enforcement and security while at the school. "This is a young man that I would have been proud to call my son," said Joe Csizmadia who taught Torres history. "He was fun and he was engaging. He loved history and a bright young guy who cared about others."

Neighbors on Washington Circle where he lived couldn't believe the news either. "I always remember him doing yardwork," said one neighbor who asked not to be identified. "My son and daughter were great friends with him. His brother was here last night with my son," she continued…
