"I cannot express the shock I felt when I heard of Brad's death. He was the funniest kid in my homeroom, with his gravelly voice and curly blond rattail. I've always thought of him as chivalrous. One day, in sixth grade, a bigger boy started kicking me in the stomach on the way home from school. Even though he could have walked away, Brad stopped him and helped me home, and would blush for years to come when I thanked him. For that small good deed, he's always been a hero to me, so I'm not surprised he died a hero. My heart goes out to the family of this cherished neighbor, classmate, and friend. I pray for my cousins Ryan and Rodriquez every day, and also for every soldier fighting this war. May the end come soon so our boys can come home. God bless Brad Squires." ~  Jessica Sutherland, Lakewood, Ohio

"Brad was one of the most joyful people I've ever known, literally, he was full of joy. He was a frequent overnight guest at my house. I would wake up in the morning and discover Brad, Colin (my son) and usually another half dozen kids asleep on my living room floor. I'd never hear them come in but it was always a fun treat to find them there in the morning. Colin would cook all of us a big breakfast and we'd just sit around and talk. One time when we could not awaken Brad, we kept calling him on his cell phone. He'd get up on his elbow, look for his phone, put his finger to his lips and go 'shhhhh' to the phone and then fall back asleep, over and over again. We were in the kitchen watching this and we'd laugh and laugh. Oh Brad, we will all miss you so much. A light has gone out in the world but there's a new star up in the heavens." ~ Mary Holz, North Olmsted, Ohio
