Marine Sergeant Jacob Mally Gray was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on December 3, 1986. Growing up Jacob was involved in Little League Baseball, Cub Scouts, and played high school football. From the age of 10 all he wanted to do was join the Marines. He received his high school diploma from Cloverleaf High School in Lodi, Ohio, June 2004 (graduating one year early) and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 1, 2004.

After graduating from Basic Training at MRCD Parris Island, South Carolina on February 11, 2005, Jacob participated in the Permissive recruiter Assistance Support Program in Medina, Ohio prior to attending the School of Infantry graduating May 2005. His awards include: *Combat Action Ribbon w/ Gold Star, *Global War on Terrorism Service Metal, *Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 bronze star, *Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal w/ 3 bronze stars, *Presidential unit citation-Navy, *Iraq Campaign Medal w/ 4 Bronze stars, *Certificate of Commendation, *Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, *National Defense Service Medal, *NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan, *Navy Unit Commendation w/4 Bronze stars, *Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold “V” for Valor.

Jacob enjoyed hunting, the great outdoors, reading and spending time with family and friends. He was a kind, giving and extremely intelligent person who always wanted to look for ways to better himself. May he always be remembered for his dedication, service, & honor to this country, his men, his family and the Marine Corps…
