At the start of the year it is a good idea to review your class settings, so you can adjust these to your own preferences. For specialists, you will need to do this for each of your classes. As a general rule, we suggest you leave the settings at the default, but common settings that teachers often change are: Change Class name? Add other teachers? Allow student likes? Allow Family likes? Approve family comments? Show add to folder step to Students & Teachers? Switch off the ‘Show Getting Started Checklist’?
Just click on the spanner/wrench in the top right corner, and check to make sure you're happy with what you see, but it's a good idea to make sure you are happy with the settings, and DO have to put their posts into a folder so it's easy for you and their parents to see which area of the curriculum if relates to.
Ensuring Seesaw posts are associated/tagged in a folder is essential if you want to be able to view any content later in the school year. Seesaw folders effectively function as labels, so posts can be filtered, either as a whole class, or by individual students, or posts made by the teacher (if they’re in a teacher folder). This is extremely useful later in the year, when writing reports or meeting with parents, and you want to be able to view all posts for a particular student for example in Mathematics. Posts can be tagged in more than one folder at the same time (which is why they’re really labels, not folders!) Here is a list of suggested folders that have been found to be useful:
Events, Home Learning, iTime, Maths, Miss Marple (Teacher name), PSE, Reading, Writing, UOS, Service.
Busy parents often appreciate the option of indication that they are interested, and have seen a post, even if they haven't got time today to comment....
