Other than the obvious online tools like Mathletics and Khan Academy, there is a host of other ways to leverage tech to transform Maths learning, here are some ideas:
Mind maps are great in all sorts of areas, but the way they emphasise the critical mathematical concept of connection is particularly powerful, mind mapping on a screen (as opposed to a piece of paper) enables your mind maps to be (SAMMS):
Social, by having group mind maps, with multiple collaborators.
Access, easily link to other sources, and elaborations directly from the mind map
Multimodal (easily combine text with image and even video),
Mutable (easy to change/adapt/revise as learning/understanding develops), unlike paper mind maps, the page is not a restriction, kids and adapt, expand, refine as they need to.
and Situated (they can work on it anywhere where the web is.
You can't do any of that with a piece of paper.
The mindmap tools I'd currently suggest to use are Popplet if you're using an iPad, and Mind Meister if you're using a laptop - use GApps to sign in.
Feeling inspired? There are loads of other ways to use Mindmaps, throughout the curriculum, here's a couple of places to look:
