Where your heart is

Where Your Heart is . . .

So what is your back up plan?  You know, you trust God, but in addition to that you put your trust in ____________.  You could fill in the blank with many things.  Many good things.  It is not that good things are a problem, but whether or not you put those things in the place where God should be.  It is the back up plans that often get us into trouble.  Get us off track.  Undermine our faith.

Does this make you uneasy?  How would you do if you were among the children of Israel in the wilderness who had to wait each day for your supply of manna, and if you gathered more, it just went bad?  What happens to us when we trust God for what we need, or when we take matters into our own hands . . . even if it is just a "back up" plan?

These are the questions Pastor Pablo explores with us this morning.  If you would like to listen to the sermon again, or perhaps for the first time, you can access our sermon library here.  If you prefer the live stream version of the entire service, you can find that here.

Matthew 6

NIV

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
