The Enemy's Greatest Tactic

1 John 3:1

NIV

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

One of the most effective tactics that can be used against us, is to encourage us to compare ourselves with others, and respond to the fear of not measuring up.  It happens in all kinds of settings, and under all kinds of circumstances, and in many cases it is remarkably effective in motivating us to do what we do.  Unfortunately, because it turns our attention to ourselves, and our perceived or real weaknesses, it generally does not bring out the best in us.  It is this tactic that powerfully undermines the core of the gospel, the "good news" that we share.   It is not a good news that ignores our shortcomings, but rather one that celebrates the graciousness of a God who regards us as His beloved children first, and out of the embrace of that grace, brings about healing in our lives, drawing us ever closer to who He invites us to be.

That is what Pastor Jon invites us to reflect upon this morning.  If you would like to listen to the sermon once again, or perhaps for the first time, you can access our sermon library here.  If you would like to watch the livestream version, you can access here
