The Life You've Always Wanted - Pt 1

The Life You've Always Wanted

So, what do you want?  Really?  Not just what things would you like to have, or do, or accomplish per se, but what do you really want under all of that?  What is it that we sometimes think all of those things or abilities will grant us?

Could it be that what we really want is to be a certain kind of person - and that the things we sometimes think we want, which we think will make us into to that person, may not be what we hope they will be.

What Jesus seems to offer us, however, is not just things to do, or perks that go along with it, but the possibility of actually becoming the kind of people we really want to be.  People transformed from the inside out.

If you are hungry, not just for new things to do or think, but for becoming the kind of person that reflects the kind of life that Jesus lived, and invites us into . . . well, that's what we'd like to invite you to explore with us in this series as we think about the life we've always wanted, one that Jesus offers us.  We hope you will join us.

Romans 12:2

(TNIV)

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

(The Message)

Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
