How Majestic is Your Name in all the Earth

Majestic

When we look around us, if we are paying attention, it is hard to miss the amazing world that we share.  And that is just what we see.  When we probe further, the complexity of what we see and how all the various contributing parts interact with each other is beyond what we can wrap our minds around.  When we do understand amazes us.  What we don't leaves us in awe.

Just the physical existence of the universe in beyond what we can fully grasp.  But beyond that is life.  Complexity.  Growth.  Inter-relationships.  And if that were not enough, there is more.  Music.  Artistic expression.  Love.  And beyond all of that, the realization that this was done on purpose by a Being Who longs to share it all with us.  Amazing.  Majestic.  Beyond what can be grasped and expressed.  That is why the only appropriate response is worship.

Psalm 8 is one such expression of response.  Take a few moments to read through the psalm and let it direct you attention, stir your mind and heart and more.  Enjoy and embrace it.  Listen to your place in the midst of it all. Listen to how you are invited to participate, and the implications of that participation.  Enter into the music! Amazing!

Mark 10:35-45 provides an interesting glimpse of what it looks like to participate in the amazing creative activity of God.  Not only is God an amazing Creator because of what He can do, but also, maybe even more importantly, because of Who He is.  This gives us a glimpse of what dominion looks like, as God, or as those created to reflect His image.  This is a huge part of the "glory" that Jesus came to reveal.  Even more amazing!

What does dominion look like for you - either in how you experience it, or in how you exercise it?  What image to we reflect?

Psalm 8

NIV

Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory

    in the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants

you have established a stronghold against your enemies,

to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens,

    the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,

human beings that you care for them?[c]

You have made them[d] a little lower than the angels[e]

and crowned them[f] with glory and honor.

You made them rulers over the works of your hands;

you put everything under their[g] feet:

all flocks and herds,

and the animals of the wild,

the birds in the sky,

and the fish in the sea,

all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!
