An Enquiry is a project/tender the Prospect wants to execute. Create it from the Prospect’s Enquiries panel; after saving, you’ll add BOQs and then prepare a quote.
Why this matters
Every quote begins life as an Enquiry. It holds the tender dates, scope (BOQs), and later the Quotes you submit and convert to a Contract.
Access: Preconstruction → Prospects (to add from a Prospect) or Preconstruction → Enquiry list (to browse/search).
Have a Prospect ready (e.g., Test Construction Company AUTOTEST).
Go to Preconstruction → Prospects, open your Prospect.
Expand Enquiries and click Add.
Fill key fields:
Name / Project (e.g., “Office Renovation Project AUTOTEST”),
Type (Tender/Direct), Business Unit / Account Centre, Currency,
Submission / Opening Dates, Status (e.g., Received / Active).
Click Save. You’ll see the new Enquiry appear in the list.
Click the chevron ▸ to open the Enquiry.
You should see:
An Enquiry header with your project name, dates, and current status.
Tabs such as Bid Decision, Requirements (BOQ) and Quotes (empty at first).
Open the Requirements (BOQ) tab and start adding BOQ lines. You’ll use those to prepare different quote types (Easy/Estimate-based/Standard/Combi)
In JobNext you can add BOQs to an Enquiry in two ways:
Pick from WBS/Scopes (standard services) — ideal when you reuse a prebuilt scope library (e.g., Equipment servicing, Landscaping, Cleaning, Pest Control).
Upload from file (client-specific) — best when the client provides a bespoke BOQ (common in civil and allied trades).
This video shows both paths so you can choose speed (WBS) or flexibility (upload) and keep your estimating workflow consistent.
Put real tender dates and a Status that reflects the tender stage (Received, Active, etc.) so dashboards make sense.
Use AUTOTEST suffix for training/test data.
Add BOQs as soon as you save the Enquiry; quotes depend on BOQ data.
