To begin the process of procuring and utilizing machines - the Machine must be registered in OMNI. Machines have a 3-level classification in OMNI.
- Level 1 - Machine Group: This is the top-most level of the Machine classification hierarchy and denotes the type of the Machine - common examples include Construction Equipment, Motor Vehicle, Furniture & Fixtures etc. A common way of classifying Groups is by the Depreciation Rate to be used for the machine.
- Level 2 - Machine Sub-Group: Multiple Sub-groups make up a Group. For example, under Motor Vehicles Group there would be a Sub-Group called 4 Wheeler, 2 Wheeler, Tracked Vehicle etc.
- Level 3 - Machine Sub-Sub group: A Sub-Sub Group denotes the machine type - thus in the example of Motor Vehicles, under the Group Motor Vehicles, Sub-group 4 Wheeler, Sub-Sub Group would be Scorpio SUV.
The specific Machine is created when a Machine is actually Procured and capitalized - until that point for planning purposes the Machine Sub-Sub group is considered to be the Machine.
