Classwork/Homework - Week of April 20

Welcome back to our virtual classroom! I hope you all had a Happy Easter. I will be sending out an email later today to all parents with an April newsletter. I'd like to share with you some information about what's to come in each of our subject areas. Here's the work for today:
1. SeeSaw - Log in to SeeSaw to read and respond to my announcement.
2. ELA - Today we will begin Unit 2 Module B. Please print out the vocabulary sheet below and begin to review the words for our new story, Money Matters. Look at the first three words from the list (spending, earn, choices) and their meanings and on looseleaf or in a notebook write each word in a sentence. You will have to read our new text from the Pearson Realize (ReadyGen) website. Follow this link to get to the Pearson Realize log in page.
Remember your user name is your first initial and last name followed by @scs. Your password is grade21_ _. To find the book Money Matters, go to "Browse", choose our program (ReadyGen2016), choose Unit 2, then choose Module B. There you will see two copies of the book. The first book you can read on your own. The second one is an interactive text where you can have some of the book read to you. You may choose either text. For today's assignment, first look at the Table of Contents on page three. In the table you will read the titles of all of the sections in the book. Then read pages 4 and 5. After reading, write the answers these two questions:
What do you think this text will be about?
What are some ways people use money?
3. Phonics - This week we will be reviewing the "ar" sound. Read the words and sentences on page 185 of your phonics book to a partner. Sound out any words you do not know.
4. Spelling - Write each of these words three times and use each in sentence.

5. Religion - Read pages 307 to 310 from the Easter chapter in our Religion book. Write a written response on page 310.
6. Math - Today we will begin working in Chapter 7 in our math book. We will be doing some work with money. With your math book open to page 338, watch the following video from mrmathblog. After he introduces you to the penny, nickel and dime he will begin working with you on page 338 to count with these coins. After the video is over and you have completed the page, then do pages 339 and 340.

7. Social Studies - Log on to BrainPopJr with the user name and password you created. There should be an assignment there for you. You will be watching a video about "Needs and Wants", then you will take an easy quiz and then do a written activity.

1. Go to https://www.brainpop.com/
2. Click "Enter Code" at the top of the screen
3. Enter theory1358 and click submit
4. It will ask for username and password - click "Sign Up Now!" to create an account.
