Classwork/Homework - Monday, April 27

Post date: Apr 27, 2020 1:49:22 AM

Welcome back for another week of learning!  Here is today's work:

1.  SeeSaw - Today is Monday.  If we were in school you would have gym today.  Let's have some fun and get some exercise at the same time.  Record yourself getting some exercise today by doing your best dance moves.  Post your video to Seesaw.

2.  ELA - Use the next three vocabulary words (services, measures, useful)  in sentences.  Then read pages 20 to 25 in Money Matters.  Return to reread pages 22 and 23.  On a piece of paper or in a notebook complete the following written response by using evidence from the story and your own opinion:

Does happiness depend on how rich you are?  How can a salary relate to happiness?  Explain.

3.  Phonics - This week we will be reviewing the /er/ sound.  This sound can be made with three different letter pairs - er, ir, and ur.  Read the words and sentences on page 195 of your phonics book to a partner.  Sound out any words you do not know.

4.  Spelling - Write each of these words three times and use each in a sentence.

                burn            clerk            dirt            fern            fur

5.  Religion - Read pages 214 and 215 to find out what happens during the Mass as the Liturgy of the Eucharist comes to an end.  Then do the Religion sheet below.

6.  Math - Today we will be counting collections of coins.  It would be very helpful to have a handful of coins so that children will be able to order and count the coins.  No more than three or four of each coin is necessary.  If coins are not available then the children can draw the coins.  First watch this video.  The teacher will explain the lesson and ask you to do some examples with her.

Then do pages 345 to 348.

7.  Social Studies - In Money Matters today you read about entrepreneurs.  Watch this short video to find out more about entrepreneurs.

Then answer these questions:

What is an entrepreneur?  Do you have any ideas on how you can become an entrepreneur?  Tell about them.

Just For Fun:  Do you know the answer to this riddle?  Who cleans the fish's room?  Do the math sheet below to find out!
