Classwork/Homework - Wednesday, March 25

Post date: Mar 25, 2020 4:1:12 AM

Hello My Friends!

Over the last few days I have attended virtual workshops and faculty meetings to explore new avenues for remote learning.  I will start to institute these new programs little by little.  Today, I would like to put the children on the ReadyGen website.  I will give them an assignment or two today to see if they can navigate the site.  Please assist them in finding the site, putting in their login information, and completing the assignments.   I would also ask that you email me to let me know your thoughts about the website and your child's interactions with it.   And please feel free to ask/tell me how you and your child have handled the assignments so far.  Thanks for your assistance!

1.  ELA - Follow this link to get to the Pearson Realize log in page.

https://sso.rumba.pk12ls.com/sso/login?profile=realize&k12int=true&service=https://www.pearsonrealize.com/community/j_spring_cas_security_check

Your user name is your first initial and last name followed by @scs

example:  rallen@scs

Each child's password is different.  They all start with grade21 followed by two digits.  The digits are the child's number in alphabetical order.   Please note: the number on your work folder is not necessarily your alphabetical number.  It may be one number off.  Single digits have 0 in front.  So for example: rick's password is grade2101, gerard's password is grade2102, etc, until we get to joey's password grade2116.  If you cannot figure out your password email me and I will email it to you.

One you get on to the website there will be two assignments.  One is to reread "A Chair for My Mother" on line.  All stories in ReadyGen can be read from the website.  The other is to do a grammar activity.  Follow the directions in the assignment to find the video on adjectives to view and then do the short assignment that follows. Don't forget to submit your work.  Good luck!

2.  Grammar - Do the "Spring Adjectives" sheet.

3.  Phonics - Do page 164 to work with the high-frequency words of the week.

4.  Spelling - Write each word three times and use each in a sentence.

    together        around        first        its        part

Be careful with the word its.  It means "belonging to".  For example:  The bird flew to its nest.  (the nest belongs to the bird.)

5.  Math - Continue to practice three digit subtraction with two regroupings by doing pages 149 and 150 in your skinny math book.

6.  Religion - Begin Chapter 17.  Read pages 196 and 197.  Were you able to remember and discuss some Bible stories with a partner?  After you have done that, write your answer to these questions in your homework notebook.

    1.  What is the Liturgy of the Word?

    2.  What do we learn by listening to God's Word at Mass?

7.  Science - Continue the Animal Study - Spiders activities.

Just For Fun:  Log back into Ready Gen and go play the "Pack Up the Skills" game. You will find it by going to the Table of Contents, choosing Unit 2, Module A and clicking into games.  You can submit your work to me if you do play the game.  Have fun!
