Classwork/Homework for Monday, March 16

Post date: Mar 16, 2020 1:29:40 PM

1.  ELA - Today we will practice the skill of retelling and summarizing a story.

Reread the first half of "A Chair for My Mother" (pages 50-69 from the Text Collection book).  Then do page 3 of the reading comprehension sheets sent home on Thursday. Remember to write your answers in complete sentences and use the story to site evidence and help you with the spelling of words.

2.  Spelling - This week our first ten spelling words will each have the long o sound.  Find the letter or vowel teams that make up the long o sound.  Write the following words three times each and use each word in a sentence.  You can do this work in your homework notebook.

                    coast         cold        float        goes        grow

3.  Math - This week will continue to work on three digit addition with and with out regrouping.  Do pages 296 and page 300 of your big math book.

4.  Religion - Read pages 184 and 185.  Answer the following questions in your homework notebook:                                                                                                          Each branch of a vine grows because the vine will give it food and water from the soil.  Why do you think Jesus used a vine and branches when teaching his disciples?  Explain.

When is Jesus present in our lives?

** Just for fun:  You are welcome to use the following websites during your stay at home.  Here is the information you will need to access the sites.

Raz-Kids - Go to kids login - put in teacher name  rallen74 ,  find your log in name (allen#), password:  read2

Freckle - class code is geeuh3, log in with your name.

Spelling City - If you have not previously logged in to Spelling City you can go to search and search by school.  I have found that the easiest way to find us is to put in St. Charles School Staten Island.   The name and address of our school and a list of teachers with Spelling City accounts should pop up.  Find my name.  I have input this week's spelling words so that you can play "Hang Mouse" and even do a words search on line.

Work hard and have fun!
