Classwork/Homework - May 4

Post date: May 04, 2020 3:43:9 AM

With the news that we will not be returning to our classroom for the remainder of the school year, I know that there are a few things that will need to be addressed going forward.  Please expect a May newsletter coming your way by email some time this week.  Here is the work for today:

1.  SeeSaw - Log in to SeeSaw today and respond to the question being asked in the announcement.

2.  ELA - The next text we are about to read is a story about a boy who would like to adopt a pet iguana.  The story is called "I Wanna Iguana".  We will begin working with the story tomorrow.  Today, in preparation for our story, please begin to review the vocabulary words on the sheet attached.  Then, in an effort to join reading with our next science unit on animals, let's learn about iguanas.  Today I will ask you to log in to a new website called Epic to read a non-fiction book about iguanas.  An email has been sent to your parents to help you to log in to the website.  When you have finished reading the assigned book, feel free to look around the Epic website and read other books or comics or watch videos that interest you.

3.  Phonics - This week we will be reviewing the /or/ sound.  This sound can be made with three different letter pairs - or, ore, and oar.  Read the words and sentences on page 205 of your phonics book to a partner.  Sound out any words you do not know.

4.  Spelling - Write each of these words three times and use each in a sentence.

                board            chore            fork            more            roar

5.  Religion - read pages 222 and 223.  Complete the activity on page 223 by designing a card for someone who is sick.

6.  Math - Do pages 353 to 355.  Use the attached sheet to help you learn about the coins you can use to make one dollar.

Just for Fun:  Today is gym day.  Check out the information Mr. D put up on his class page for activities at home.  There are some great ideas for being active while you cannot attend gym class.  I think my favorite activity is "The Dance Party".  What would your favorite activity be?
