Classwork/Homework - Thursday, March 19

Today is the Feast Day of St. Joseph.
Parents: I hope you and your families are well and that your child's "school time" is productive. As time goes on we will be providing new ways to offer work and access workbooks. Please bear with with us as we search and experiment with new things. If you have any questions, please email me at r.allen@saintcharlesschoolsi.org. Here is today's work.
1. ELA - Today we will continue to work on the skill of making inferences. Reread pages 66 to 79 of "A Chair for My Mother" and do the last two inference questions on our comprehension sheets. Review the vocabulary words for the story also.
2. Spelling/Phonics - Sadlier Book Company has given us license to access our phonics book on line as an e book, so we will begin doing work in the phonic book today. If by some chance you have your book at home, you may use it. If you do not, then you can access the page by following the link and directions below and doing the work on looseleaf or in a notebook. Once you enter the site you will see rows of books. Find our book on the bookshelf
and click on it. (It's in the fifth row) When it opens go to Unit 3, Lesson 15, Long o. Do the two pages called "Word Sort" and "High Frequency Words" today.
If this works, then I will begin to assign work from this book several days a week. Please let me know if it does not work for you. Another alternative is to scan the page and send it as an attachment but I feel that viewing the book online gives you a clearer page. I look forward to your feedback.
3. Math - Today we will continue practicing three digit subtraction with regrouping. We will be look at regrouping hundreds. Watch the video and then do pages 310 to 312 in your big math book.

4. Religion - Please do the St. Joseph sheet. Read, color and pray to St. Joseph.
Then read pages 190 and 191 in your religion book. Discuss the following with another person. You do not have to write your answers today.
What do you do as Mass begins?
What are we reminded of as we make the Sign of the Cross?
What do you respond when the priest says, "The Lord be with you."
What words do we use to ask God for his forgiveness and mercy?
What do we say after the priest prays the opening prayer?
