A year full of experience

Throughout this year, a lot has happened to me. It was my second year in Canada, so I had just settled in, and I immediately had to change school because my old school ended in grade 8. The only friend that I had from the year prior was Riccardo, which helped me at the beginning of the year to have one good friend. At the beginning of the year, I was feeling pretty shy and afraid to meet new people I would say, but throughout the year, I got more comfortable with my class and started to have a close friend group.

I would say that as a person, I improved my ability to speak to new people. This year, I would say about half of my classes were very challenging. As I am french, French class wasn't challenging for me, and the two other classes that weren't too challenging were gym and art. Science has always been hard for me, so I always make sure that I am 100% focused in class. I was always interested in math, so I enjoyed the challenges that I faced during this year for this class. ICE was a new and challenging experience for me. In the past, I never really interviewed people to make a video or take photos of multiple places to showcase a specific theme in a photo essay. At first, I was really scared that I would not get enough photos, or the interview didn't answer the question, but throughout the year, I've learned that if I plan enough, my project would be good. I remember during our first class trip to downtown Toronto, where I didn't plan enough, which made me stressed and I ended up taking way too many photos of everything as I wasn't sure what my photo essay was going to be about. On the second trip, I planned more and going to it, so I already had my video planned out before going, which made it easier for me to take the right photos and ask the right questions to my interviewees.

As a Canadien citizen, I believe that I learned way more about the. geography and history of Canada, and the perfect moment that would prove this is Ottawa. Before the trip, I didn't know much about the country's capital and Canada's role during the wars, but after interviewing tour guides and going to multiple museums, my knowledge of the country was way larger. I then took all my knowledge and compressed it into a podcast, which I had never done before.
