My year in grade 9 at the York school has changed me a ton. ICE class has taught me so much, I have learned all about Canada’s history. From first natives and residential school to world war 2 I have learned so much about the history of Canada and it's role in the history of our planet. The York school environment has provided me with a healthy learning environment to grow and thrive as a student.
A perfect example of such an occasion was winter camping. Winter camping was a struggle for a very long time, when I arrived I was miserable, cold and wet. Over time I started making friendships that I would have never made had I not gone. Winter camping taught me how to adapt and thrive in a new environment. By the end of my trip, I was laughing and having fun with my peers. I was even sad to see the buses arrive which were going to take us home. Something which I never thought I would think at the beginning of our trip. Overall ICE has allowed me to grow and adapt as a student, citizen and a Canadian.
