A Cluster is a small, carefully-selected set of core techniques that work together to solve a common learning problem.
For example, a powerful Questioning Cluster might include Cold Call, Think Pair Share and Show-Me Boards - techniques that combine to help teachers involve every student and check understanding during lessons.
Clusters can address whole-school priorities, but they’re equally powerful for individual teachers working on a specific aspect of practice through coaching or PD. A single technique is rarely the whole solution. Teachers combine and blend techniques fluently - using Cold Call alongside Think Pair Share or Show-Me Boards - so each technique strengthens the others.
By focusing on Clusters, teachers develop shared language, confident practice and greater precision in how core techniques are used in the classroom.
