PREPARING FOR A DEBATE.
MAKING AND DEFENDING A LINE OF ARGUMENT | INDEPENDENT LEARNING | PAGE 144
Debating helps explore a subject where there are different perspectives - a debate in class, a special debate event or an imagined event where you make each case in writing. Sometimes you share your own personal views or you might be asked to adopt a position as a way of trying to understand an alternative perspective to your own. Debating makes you think hard about how to argue a case using logical reasoning, a good selection of evidence and the power of language to persuade.
