Letters and emails can often have a level of formality attached to them. A letter should have the writer’s address and date in the top right corner; start by saying who it’s for; end by saying who it’s from. Everything else depends on the purpose how formal it is. In emails, the rules are more flexible but still consider the formality and purpose of writing; remember that badly written emails can waste people’s time and create confusion.
