Welfare Checks:
When we receive a call about a welfare check on a student and the student does not live on campus - create a Welfare Check for the agency that needs to respond AND create an Information case for UVU with the individual's name screen attached, assign it to yourself or an officer if they have to do some followup. This is for tracking purposes, so that we can see how many times we (UVU) deal with certain individuals.
CAD Notes:
Brought to my attention that we are not to be putting notes in other agencies CAD calls. UNLESS one of our officers is on the call.
IF you create the call, obviously you can put notes in the call for the responding agency. These are court documents, and if they go to court we could be called to justify our notes and comments on a case that is not ours. IF you have information to add to the call, IM a dispatcher or call that agency directly and have their dispatcher add the information.
Officer complaining:
Often officers will come in to dispatch to complain about a call, caller, student, co worker, sgt, etc. Listen with an open mind, be objective - not subjective. We all need to vent, just make sure that's what it is, venting, and not gossiping or causing more harm than good.
Canceling a call:
If an officer asks you to cancel a call out that you have created for them to respond to, clear it out to their number.
