$H MESSAGES
$H messages occur when an Agency has listed something NCIC and someone from our agency runs it. This can happen when someone enters something with a back date that we may have run in the past 5 days. Whenever we receive a $H message we go in and try to determine why we got the message.
Follow these steps to determine why we received the $H:
Pull up the $H message. Located the time the item was run. (Remember that this time is central time so go back 2 hours).
Go to your Spillman command line and type RA.
Search by Time/Date.
Press the Type clock on the right side and select between.
Enter the time 10 minutes before the time given, hit enter.
Enter the time 10 minutes past the time given, hit F3 or Accept.
Now hit List at the top and find the exact time the item was run.
Look for a 28A Number as performing this search will pull up what everyone in the county ran during that time frame.
Locate the person who ran it and try to determine why it was run, pull up the call they were on, etc.
Go to the Teams Dispatch page, on the General main page, find the $H Entry Form, fill out the form.
If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to one of the TAC supervisors.
