Students and employees call in regularly to get assistance unlocking doors on campus. Sometimes their card/fob/app just isn't working to unlock it, or Lenel is down, or they just don't have authorization. We are responsible for campus security so Dispatch cannot unlock doors for people without authorization.
LENEL DOOR LOCKING/UNLOCKING
Create a UVLockout call and obtain their name, phone number, UVID number, and the exact door they want opened. This nature code will auto-generate a case number.
Select the ‘Badge Info Icon’
Hit the “SEARCH” button 1st
Add their UVID number in the 'Cardholder ID' section
Select the tab ‘Access Levels’
Determine what authorizations they have listed (use this training to see how)
If they have that specific door listed on their access, go ahead and open the door remotely for them. In your call comments, make sure to note that Dispatch opened the door, then clear the call out to yourself.
If they do not have that specific door listed, you should not remotely open the door.
If they say another person gave them permission to be there (professor, advisor, club, etc), we must get a call from this person directly who has access and gave permission. Just stating "my professor said it was OK" is not enough. Make sure to notate all this information in your call comments. You can remotely open the door after speaking with the professor (etc).
If they have personal items locked inside the room, they are unable to get a hold of the person to give them permission, or any other circumstance you aren't sure about, you should send an officer to meet them. Our officers can get a better understanding of the situation and unlock doors themselves if they see the need. Clear the call out to the officer when they are done.
