Wreckers

Just a reminder; when you dispatch a tow to either an accident or DUI (State Impound) make sure to use our wrecker rotation.

How do I access such rotation? you ask yourself... and if you don't, wonderful.

But for those of you who might... Here is a step by step tutorial... kind of 😄

To dispatch a tow to a call in progress, make sure you have clicked on the call you want to attach the tow information to... or type dwc (dispatch wrecker call) and enter the call #, for example dwc 493l and hit ENTER

or having the call you want to dispatch to selected, type dwc, and hit enter. Both these actions will take you to the next screen.

Where it says rotation, you will use the drop-down menu and choose 35 "utah valley university wrecker" This will let you know who is up next on the rotation.

I always like to add a comment on the "Desc" field to note why and what type of veh is being impounded.

Click Accept and make a note in your call.

Once the tow has arrived you can type "UW" on the command line to update your tow information.

Select your tow (make sure you are updating the correct one) and click update. (hopefully Spillman won't crash on you as many times as it crashed for me when I was trying to get some images)

If for some reason, the officer wants you to cancel the tow, or if the tow that is up on the rotation cannot respond, click on where it says arrive, there is a drop-down menu and click cancel instead of arrived.

A pop-up window will ask you if you want to cancel the wrecker, if you click yes, it will ask you if you want to dispatch another wrecker from this rotation. If you need a new wrecker, click yes, and it will automatically give you the next one (we only have 2 in our rotation), and if not, click no.

Then you will get asked if you want to save its place in the rotation. If we are the ones cancelling them, then we can save their place, which means the next time we need a tow, they will be called first. IF they cancelled on us, we can say no and they will go to the bottom of the rotation.

Click accept and exit from the update wrecker screen.

Congratulations you have dispatched your tow!
