FIRE ALARM RECEIVED ON FIRE COMPUTER:
Fire alarms on the UVU campus will come in on the fire computer as a Red alarm and a loud bell ringing alert sound. Verify the location of the alarm is not a location that has already been called in by a contractor or is being worked on.
Create a CAD call using the nature code TRANSFER FIRE so Orem fire can respond. This will create a Law (l) case and a Fire (f) case.
Add the location of the alarm and all details by 'left clicking' on the FIRE ALARM tile on the Fire Computer.
EX: SCIENCE BUILDING - LEVEL 2 WEST CLASSROOM - SMOKE
Dispatch an officer to the Law Case, change the UVU law call from Transfer Fire to Alarm-Fire.
EX: MT (123L) Alarm-Fire (Modify Type Call# Law Nature Code)
Notify Kurt Baxter and/or Tad with Nelson Fire - Via Teams/Mongoose or Phone
Check the cameras in that area to see if you can provide any more information to the incoming fire and police units, and document this information in the CAD call.
You can silence any type of alarm. In the top left of the screen, right next to Menu, is the Acknowledge button. Click it as many times as it takes to clear the alarms that are coming in. The floor plan that the priority alarm is coming from should automatically open in the center of the monitor.
The icon on the screen should turn Red, orange, or yellow.
Left-click on that icon, and it will give you more information about it. The code above the icon is the 'name' of the alarm. That’s the name Kurt or Tad needs to know when you call or text them with an issue.
At the top of that section of the screen should be what looks like a file address or a web address. Says “Home\Building List\Whichever Building\Whatever Level.” That is a quick way to see which building and level we’re talking about.
From there, you can scroll using the mouse to zoom in and out on that floor plan to see where exactly this alarm is coming from.
