¡Qué Rico! Learning Familiar Commands Through VR and Colombian Gastronomy

Teaching and learning languages have infinite approaches, but some tend to engage students better than others. When teaching familiar commands to Elementary Spanish students, the kitchen proves to be great to introduce how to give, and receive, orders in a different language. However, real kitchens have knives, allergens, fire, and multiple other hazards that make it a safety and liability nightmare. To bridge the gap, Virtual Reality can provide kitchens, like the game Cooking Simulator, that bring all the fun without any of the hazards. Enabling students to experience the language through recipes, rather than just reading and writing.
