Generic Non Binary applied to the Spanish Language

Intro

This podcast explores the nonbinary gender identity through the Spanish language. It is a conversation relevant to Spanish ASL educators and students. We will explore the history of gender and language; illustrate the context and reactions to the proposal of generic nonbinary in modern Spanish; and deep dive into the grammatical elements and structural changes that go hand in hand with the verbalization of the nonbinary gender identity. Through this journey the content will be sprinkled with the voices of nonbinary bilingual native Spanish speakers who share their own takes, doubts, joys and anxieties present on their linguistic reality.
