Meteorites
Meteorites
Audio Guide:
Meteorites are debris fallen on Earth after penetrating the atmosphere at the speed of 10 to 80 kilometers per second and burning in violent heat. Research shows that meteorites may be debris from the impact between asteroids or even stardust left behind when the Solar System was formed.
Meteorites are classified into three categories based on analyses of their materials: stony, iron, or stony-iron. While most meteorites care composed of rocky material, the largest meteorite ever found thus far is an iron meteorite.
Using the magnifiers, you can observe the different composition of meteorites. You can also touch them to feel the texture and weight of meteorites.
Exhibit Introduction:
Different types of meteorites are displayed for the visitors to observe with magnifiers, one of which can be touched and lifted to feel its weight.
