Your summative project is to design a bungalow that is approx 1600 square feet, stone-faced (the type of stone/brick application is up to you), and only 1 storey. The bungalow will be built on the 3.4 acre lot located at right, within the village of Richmond.
1. The site is 3.4 acres completely flat and there will be houses on both the NE and SW and NW sides of the lot (the only unobstructed view is towards the Jock River to the SW). Placement of the house in the lot is completely up to you.
2. The bungalow MUST have a minimum of one bathroom that can accommodate a bathtub/shower, a toilet and a sink.
3. The first floor must be no less than 8’ but no more than 10’ in height.
4. Modeling: You can either choose to model the overall house with little interior detail other than walls, or model the kitchen in detail. Typically work in foam-core (white poster-board) at the 1"=24" (1"=2') for the whole house, or 1"=12" (1'=1') scale for a kitchen. The model should be as close as possible in detail to the Sketchup model.
Note: You may use one of the houses from assignment 12 or create something completely new. Architects re-use bits of previous houses all the time when working on new projects. This would mean that the bubble and block diagrams, as well as the front elevation, the foundation plan, the floor plan and the 3D model would already be complete and all you would need to focus on would be the physical model.
Note: These are simply to give a rough idea of what is expected rather than specific level of quality.
