download this space texture - save it into the same folder as your blender file
Make sure everything's deselected. On the right side click on the world icon.
For the SURFACE, choose BACKGROUND
Next to color is the little circle that opens the submenu
Under COLOR choose ENVIRONMENTAL TEXTURE see pic at left)
There's a little folder icon on the right, click it and navigate to your file you downloaded (tgj2o_starmap_4k.jpg)
Choose the settings in the pic (above - note all settings might not be visible depending on the version of blender you're using)
linear
equirectangular (if it's an option)
single image
Change your viewmode (Z) to RENDER PREVIEW to see what it'll look like.
