Because of the licensing deals the OCDSB made, students should have access to Adobe products at home using their OCDSB login/password. If your computer can run this software this is a great opportunity.
To obtain the software they will have to sign in on the Adobe website
They'll put in their OCDSB gmail username. DO NOT USE THE GOOGLE ONE-BUTTON LOGIN
They'll chose the school login
Look for the grid and click on Creative Cloud App
This will open a page that offers download/installation choices. Choose DOWNLOAD for Creative Cloud.
Run the EXE file (at right) after it's downloaded.
It will then download and install the program (typically 10-15 minutes of download/installation time)
You should now see photoshop, animate and premiere pro as download options.
Choose whatever programs you need at that point in time
Once installed you should just click on OPEN (left) or click on the WINDOWS icon on the bottom left of windows 10 and open Adobe Photoshop (or whatever software you need) that way.
If students do not have machines that can run this at home (e.g. only a chromebook, or an older computer that struggles with it), then each segment of the course has free and/or low-demand requirement alternatives.
First off, you'll need to use the adobe sign-in information above in order to use the professional version of the product. Note the workflow through all of these products. E.g. you can use Mix to extract a model, Fix to retouch a model, then move it to Lightroom to alter color, then bring it to Express to make a collage with it.
For pictures: You can also use:
Photoshop Express (for collages and basic color adjusts),
Photoshop Fix (retouching tools),
Photoshop Mix (extractions or mask selections of various things in the image and adjust them).
You also have access to Lightroom Mobile as well which is detailed color adjust and cataloging (metadata)
For illustration there's Adobe Illustrator Draw or Photoshop Sketch
For video editing you can use: Adobe Rush which is a decent video editor.
Photography - photopea.com free and online. Also Pixlr advanced for layers.
Illustration - Inkscape is a free to use vector editing tool, (or Vectr if you're on a chromebook)
Animation - 3D - Blender is a free to download 3D animation program.
Animation - 2D - WickEditor - is a free to use tool
Motion Graphics - Natron - free to use tool. Instructions to install on a chromebook
Video Editing - If you're on an older PC/laptop and Premiere won't run then try Hitfilm express (or older versions). If you're really stuck, then you can use the online video editor WeVideo.
Audio Editing - Audacity is free to use on PCs and on Chromebooks.
In Premiere Pro (at right) click on your timeline. Select all the clips (Ctrl+A). Then File>Export>Media.
Choose H.264, then choose an output name (and pay attention to where it goes).
Lastly, click on EXPORT at the bottom of the window and submit the MP4
Go to File>Export>Video/Media
Then the export box will pop up where you'll give it a filename (keep H.264 as the default encoding).
Adobe Media Encoder will pop up afterwards (it might take a minute to do so). The encoder is the thing that will turn the Animate project into an mp4.
If you're editing wav files directly then they don't require exporting. However, if you're editing a multitrack project then click on
File >Export>Multitrack Mixdown, then click Entire Session.
File>Export>Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue (or you can choose render queue, either works)
Choose MP4 / H.264 for the output module
