1 Peter 2:17-25
Jesus Bore Our Sins
17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 "He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth." 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Romans 8:31
If God is For Us, Who Can Be Against Us
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Jesus came and dwelt among us...And He is still with us...He committed no sin while He was on earth, and no deceit came from His mouth...He did not retaliate to those who arrested Him and put Him on the cross to die...And He died for us, and our sins...
Jesus is our example...He is how we are supposed to live...Sometimes we think that life can be different and should be different, that the grass is greener on the other side...Life can be a struggle...And what really is on the other side...Is the grass truly greener and less of a struggle...If Jesus is with us, who can be against us...We may struggle, but our souls are in His comforting hands...Let us believe in Him...
Pastor Craig Barnes said, “Because God is with us in the human struggle, we are no longer destined to fruitlessly rearrange the circumstances of our lives...We no longer depend on another move, another relationship, or another weight-loss program to rescue us from nothingness, from that persistent ache in the pit of our souls...We can flourish because in Jesus Christ the Creator came to us and restored our dignity as God’s children.”...
