Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned— 13for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. 14Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.
15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
18Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Matthew 27:45-56
The Death of Jesus
45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. 46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."
48Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."
50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"
55Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.56Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.
Our sins keep us separate and away from God...This feeling and separation from our Creator, is not a good feeling...Adam and Eve are the ones who brought sin into this world...Adam and Eve sinned when they ate the forbidden fruit...Since they sinned, they would die...When we break God's moral laws we must die...The wages of sin is death...But since Jesus was not from the line of Adam, but whose Father was God, did not sin...He did not have to die, but He did...He died because He took on the sins of the world...As He hung on the cross, bearing our sins, He was being cut off from God...He took on the wrath of God with our sin...And when our sin connected to Him, He felt like a Man (albeit a dying tortured Man) -He ask God why He had He forsaken Him?...
Jesus knew He had to suffer, and to feel the wrath of God, and at that moment on the cross, He was forsaken from His Father...He felt that hidden separation that we feel everyday, when God seems to be hiding...Jesus foresaw and knew that He was going to be crucified, would suffer, and then die on the cross...Some theists believe that Jesus, since He knew He was going to suffer, did not say the forsaken words in the context of being separated from God (because He knew He was going to be forsaken for a short time)...They believe that Jesus said His forsaken line, to fulfill His Messianic prophecy...So Jesus was not forsaken even for a second by God...
One thing does come out of this...Jesus never sinned...He would not have died if He lived out a "normal" life, because He is divine...He only suffered and died, because we sinned...My sins killed Him on the cross...He, in fact, was forsaken by us...David who wrote the Psalm and spoke these forsaken words hundreds of years before the Messiah, loved God and felt the anguish of God, and felt apart from Him as he cried out (Psalm 22:1)...Jesus while hanging on the cross dying, felt a similar anguish, separation, and apart from God -that David had felt hundred of years earlier...
Apart from God their is no abundant life...There is an emptiness without the Father, His Son, and His Holy Spirit...
