Genesis 1:25-26
God Creates Man and Woman
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
1 John 4:15-21
God is Love
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
John 14:6
The Way
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Romans 12:3 (KJV)
God Gives Us a Measure of Faith
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
God Puts Eternity in our Hearts
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Deuteronomy 4:29
Seeking God
29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Romans 1:20
God's Invisible Qualities Around Us
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Luke 10:25-28
On Loving God and Neighbor
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
From the beginning of time the vast majority of man has believed in God...All different cultures, all different nations, and all countries have believed in a Supreme Being...There must be something in mankind to cause him to believe in God...What is it in man, that makes us want to believe in Him?...What is about mankind that makes us want to seek God?...Is it because He created us, and that He created us in His own image?...Is it because God is Truth, the Absolute Truth -about our life and the way to live our life?...Is it because as St. Paul says, God has given each of us a measure of faith?...Solomon says something similar, and says that God has put eternity in our hearts...Is this eternity in our heart always seeking Him?...Could it be the God is love and the love He puts in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, is constantly seeking that Love for and from Him (by this eternal Holy Spirit in our heart)?...St. Augustine said that God has made us from Himself, and our hearts will be restless, until they rest in thee...Could it be we for some other reason, maybe that we just desire Him and are forever looking for His grace?...Or that we want to feel His Presence?...
What, to me, is interesting about these particular reasons these are mostly abstract reasons we are looking for Him...These questions are not based on specific truths of hard evidence -when we believe or go seeking for Him...They are touchy, feely answers to one of lives most perplexing questions...So we search for Divine Truth looking through the lenses of our heart and Love...
When we seek the LORD is it something we do just out of human nature, like breathing, or is it something we do more or less on our own...I think it can be both or it can be either or...We may just naturally believe in God, because we see the natural order and organization of life and the universe...We may feel the love of God or we may go off searching and seeking Him, on our own...Moses, when he wrote Deuteronomy thousands of years ago, connects our search and seeking the LORD with the heart and soul...Moses tells us to actually seek God with our hearts...Then he adds to also use our souls in our seeking...Jesus ties our hearts and love to God, by telling us to love God with all our heart and our soul, and our strength, and our minds...There is this difference in seeking and loving God, but they are very much related -as the heart and soul are related...
God's love seems to be a most important answer how man finds his faith...God made us and gives us unfettered free will...Trying to force one to love another does not work...He gives us a place on earth to build a life, find love, and have a home...Jesus seems to tie these things together...He connects the seeking and love...This is because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...He is the Way to the Father...Jesus is the Absolute Truth...Truth and Love intersect with God...In knowing His Son, we better know Him...
It seems we may seek, find, and have faith in God from different sources...We may seek and find Him in our Bibles...Reading the Bible each day gets us closer to Him and a better knowledge of Him...Another way we may seek and find Him is in His creation...These are the the invisible evidences and qualities around us -the earth, the sun, the sky, our pets, the trees, and the air we breath...Our five senses let us enjoy His beautiful creation and scenery each day...Another way we can seek and find Him is through His Son...His Son is the Way to Him...And since God loves us, and God is love, He does not care how we get back to Him or which route we have taken, He is just happy to see us back home (like the prodigal son)...
