Romans 8:14-17
We Are Children of God
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Genesis 1:27
God Made Us in His Image
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Acts 17:24-31
God Has Appointed Our Times Here on Earth
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
How are we here on earth, and why are we here?...
Non-believers can describe in quite lengthy detail the complex theory of evolution and continue on with the complexity of the human mind...But this explanation they describe is quite impersonal, because after all, if the mind is an accident in their minds how can it be personal...That is, if the mind has just evolved over the years from a primordial soup from millions of years ago -how can it be anything but impersonal?...Does time make things personal?...Nothing is personal with the human person or his mind, in this description...Nor is anything Spiritual with man as they describe or his soul...Everything is random and impersonal and we are happened to be here by chance, if we are only here by evolution and are random and impersonal...Then what does this say of the random and impersonal one describing the complex theory of how a person and his mind has evolved by a random accident?...
The believer believes that the human person is personal and his Spirit is made in the Image of God...That we are children of God and their minds and their Spirit are no accident...We have a purpose and God gives life meaning...God wants us to seek Him and perhaps find Him and learn more about Him...
St Paul tells us that God who has made the world and everything in it is the LORD of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands...And God is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything...Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else...From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands...God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us...For in Him we live and move and have our being...As some of the Greek poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’...
