Romans 5:8-15
Jesus Died for Us While We Are Still Sinners
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
God shows His Great LOVE for us in that while we were still sinners...We were not perfect and getting better...We were and are sinners and wicked...In this respect, we are still like the men who lived in Jesus' time...And knowing this, God still had His Son die for us...This shows God's Great LOVE for us...For God so LOVED the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life with God and His Son...For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world of sinners, but to save the world through Him...Jesus came into the world to save sinners from their sins...Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him because God knows we are flawed, we sin, and are sinners...We are reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life...More than that, we also rejoice in God through our LORD Jesus, through whom we have now received reconciliation...Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all have sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law...The Old Testament gave laws what to do, when we sinned...Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the One Who was to come...The One to come is our Savior...But the free gift is not like the trespass...For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the Grace of God which is a free gift by the Grace of that One Man Jesus Christ abounded for many...When we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness...
Pastor Tony Evans wrote, “Jesus didn't wait until we got better to die for us...He died when we were in our most unlovely state...The person who doesn't deserve love actually needs love more, not less...If you know someone unworthy of love, that's great!...You now have a chance to emulate Christ, because the essence of His LOVE is unconditional.”...
