Psalm 8:1-9
For the director of music. According to gittith. A psalm of David.
1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Romans 1:18-23
God and Creation
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
The Psalmist says that when I consider your heavens, and the work of your fingers, with the sun, the moon and the stars, and all those things which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, and human beings that you care for them?...You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor...You made mankind rulers over the works and creation of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas...
St. Paul looked around the world and he saw the sun, the moon, the skies and saw God...Perhaps St. Paul saw God in many things, and maybe all things...
Do you worship God and praise God?...Is it possible we learn most about God by listening and watching and seeing those things around us –and then when we see His order and designs of the world and universe, then we praise Him?...We learn much about Him by our own awareness of nature, the cosmos, the universe, and the Divine Design we see in everything around us...Then like St. Paul in each and everything that God has created, we see Him in it, and thus very much in our world...We then see the work of His fingers...
LORD, our LORD, how majestic is Your name in all the earth and the universe!...
