Romans 2:1-16
God Will Give Us Righteous Judgment
1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11For God does not show favoritism.
12All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) 16This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
Complete Understanding is LOVE...When One Completely Understands each and everyone of your acts then that is LOVE and both forgiveness...God Completely Knows you...He knows why you acts this way and that way...He completely understands...And God is LOVE...Since God is LOVE and sin came into the world when Adam and Eve were disobedient, God in His Perfect Ways would find a Way for us to be free from sin and be with Him in Heaven...So God sent His Son to dwell among us and teach us not only more about Him (God the Father), but also about His Son...And in what has proved to be controversial, His Son has said that no one gets to God except through Him...But His Son is a controversial person both in His time, but in our time...
How can it be that no one gets to heaven except though the Son of God?...In our world, especially today, there are people do not like to hear that God's Son is the only Way to God...But it is true that the people of Israel, who saw the Son of God did not all agree that He was the Anointed One or the Messiah...So even in His day and right after His death, God's own people did not believe that His Son is the Only Way to God...In fact, some did not believe that He was the Son of God, and One with God...They did not believe that if you saw Him, you also were seeing God...
Since God is LOVE and there is controversy around His Son, we can see that is God's Goal to still have everyone believe in His Son and get to heaven with Him and His Son...But God knows that everyone will not believe in His Son, and there are atheists who do not believe in Him then and now...In Spiritual terms these people are lost...In speaking of the lost, The Gospel of Luke gives us a full chapter, chapter fifteen, which Jesus teaches us about the lost people of the world...Jesus gives us lessons on the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost prodigal son...So by giving us these lessons, we know that there are people who do not believe in God and His Son, and they are lost...
For those who never get to hear from Disciples of Jesus that He existed they must believe what Scripture says and what St. Paul wrote to the Romans in his letter to them...St. Paul first writes, The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the Truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them...For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse...For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened...Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles...Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another...They exchanged the Truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised...Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts...Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones...In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another...Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error...Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done...They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity...They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice...They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy...Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them...
One can look at creation and believe that there is a Source, a Designer, a God of our universe...The universe could not just pop up and be here, whether one believes in the Big Bang Theory or Something Else...The chemicals and explosions and big bang had to have beginning of chemicals or warm water pond, or amino acids or something to bring the universe into being...If one believes in the Big Bang, then it is easy to see how there is a Big Banger...
Then St. Paul wrote further to the Romans that we therefore, have no excuse, who we pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point we judge another, we are condemning ourselves, because we who pass judgment do the same things...Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on Truth...So when you, a mere human being, passing judgment on others and yet do the same things that the ones we are passing judgement on, we will not be able to escape God’s judgment...Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?...But because of our stubbornness and our unrepentant heart, we might storie up wrath against ourselves for the day of God’s wrath, when His Righteous Judgment will be revealed...God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”...To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life...But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the Truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger...There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile...For God does not show favoritism...
So St. Paul says that God will give eternal life to those who have not heard of Jesus...God will repay each person according to what they have done on earth...To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give those people eternal life...But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the Truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger...
Theologist William Lane Craig writes, "It is reasonable to assume that many people who never hear the Gospel would not have believed the Gospel even if they had heard it...Suppose, then, that God has so providentially ordered the world that all persons who never hear the Gospel are precisely such people...In that case, anybody who never hears the Gospel and is lost would have rejected the Gospel and been lost even if he had heard it...No one could stand before God on the Judgement Day and complain, “All right, God, so I didn’t respond to your general revelation in nature and conscience!...But if only I had heard the Gospel, then I would have believed!”...For God will say, “No, I knew that even if you had heard the Gospel, you would not have believed it...Therefore, My Judgement of you on the basis of nature and conscience is neither unfair nor unloving.”...
Jesus claimed to be the Son of God and have the relationship of Son to God, which the Jewish Leaders said meant an equality with the Father...The Son of God goes to the Father in LOVE, and has unique access to the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit...While believers are a part of the family of God and children of God, the Son of God asserts a Unique Oneness in the Sacred and Holy Family with the Father, in communion with the Holy Spirit: “Just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father...I and the Father are One.”...
God's Son frequently calls God His Father...So He often was mentioning this Special Relationship with His Father...For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His Own Father, making Himself equal with God...“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”...So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”...Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM.”...The Son of God said, “I and the Father are One.”...The Jews picked up stones again to stone Him...Jesus answered them, “I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?”...The Jews answered Him, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.”...Thomas, Jesus' Disciple, answered and said to Him, “My LORD and My God!”...Jesus did not deny that He to Thomas that He is His LORD and His God...Nor did He ever deny to the Jewish Religious Leaders, High Priest, Sanhedrin, and Pharisees that God as not His Father...In fact, when Jesus was questioned by the Sanhedrin and High Priest these things happened: The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put Him to death, but they did not find any...Many testified falsely against Him, but their statements did not agree...Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against Him: “We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.’”...Yet even then their testimony did not agree...So the High Priest stood up before them and questioned Jesus, “Have You no answer?...What are these men testifying against You?”...But Jesus remained silent and made no reply...Again the High Priest questioned Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”...“I AM,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”...
God and the Son of God will give us Righteous Judgment...We are God’s offspring, and we should not think that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone—or an image made by human design and skill...God is Spirit...We are made in His Image, and we do not know the Image of our Father...Since we are children of God, and He is LOVE and our Father, He will judge us Perfectly...And for those who have heard the gospel, in the past God overlooked our ignorance of what we know and what we do not know, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent...For He has set a day when He will Righteously Judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed...God has given proof of this to everyone by raising His Son from the dead...
