Romans 3:9-20
No One is Righteous
9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”
13 “Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
I have read where many do not believe in Christianity because Christians behave hypocritically in referring to following Jesus and the Bible...And they are right in believing this because we are all flawed with a sinful nature...There is no one righteous, not even one...
When a newspaper posed this similar question, 'What's Wrong with the World?' to the Catholic thinker G. K. Chesterton he wrote a brief letter and in his answer gave us two important words about this subject...Chesterton said "I am."...Chesterton admits he is one of the problems of the world, and I too am another one of the world's problems...
St. Paul, including himself, says that “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God...We are the problem of this world, and the Saint to the Gentiles wrote about this problem of man two thousand years ago...It is true that no one is righteous, because man is flawed...
This also might explain why there exists so many denominations of Christianity...Does the number of denominations imply that Christianity is not true?...It might tell us that we do not get along as well as we might, and that my ideas are different than their neighbor and brother about our LORD Jesus Christ...It also might tell us that different people including followers of Jesus have very different personalities, different ideas, and are brought up in different cultures that makes us plainly different...But none of these things prove that Jesus did not exist and the His teachings are false, and that He is not the Son of God...Our behaving badly did not prevent Jesus from being good and sinless...
