Answer:Hari Singh had never experienced compassion & trust in his life before. He always considered the world a selfish & bitter place to live in. So, he turned into a thief at a very young age.
Anil was a different experience for Hari Singh. Being habituated to robbing, he stole money from Anil too. But then Anil's trust in it was difficult to ignore. Anil had given him a gift of education that could make him have an honorable life later. He felt very guilty & so decided to return the money to Anil.

Answer:Anil was a person who understood human nature & its complexities. He had probability figured out that Hari Singh was still in the habit of stealing. Anil had noticed Hari Singh pocketing a rupee a day. When Anil gave him money to buy a few things, that did not stop him from believing that unconditional faith in another person can bring about significant changes. Therefore, when Anil found the notes damp, he might have realized what would have happened the previous night. But he was empathetic to not question Hari Singh about it or complain to the police. Most employers would have resorted to a more straightforward solution of handing over a dishonest person to the authority. Being kind, Anil did not believe in such conditions & proved he was right as Hari Singh transformed in the end.
