Familiar Ultimate Evolution was added on 9/14/2023, and provides a further upgrade path for familiars.
It serves a similar function as equipment liberation, and the familiars that you ultimate evolve will have a similar purple star indicator as liberated equipment; however, the system is unique to familiars and has different materials and steps.
To unlock ultimate evolution, you will need to:
Have Familiar Adventure mode at level 18 or higher
Clear a reputation quest in Golden Grove with the fairies
You will then be able to access Ultimate Evolution in the Familiar menu.
A familiar must be upgraded to 6*, level 30, in order to begin the ultimate evolution process.
Only certain familiars can be ultimate evolved at this time:
September 2023 (fire)
November 2023 (water)
January 2024 (wood)
TBD
It is assumed that the full element cycle will continue for the next few months. This is typically announced during GM notes.
Ultimate Evolution is a multi-stage process.
A familiar needs to be upgraded to +600 with 2 new materials.
Ultimate Evolution Fruits (+300)
These must be the same element as the familiar you are upgrading
Each fruit increases the level by 1
Each fruit boosts the familiar's base attack power and HP by 1
Familiar Courage Bottles (+300)
These can be used by any familiar
Each bottle increases the level by 1
Each bottle boosts the familiar's base defense and HP by 1
Once a familiar has reached +600, a new story quest will unlock. Clearing this quest will allow you to ultimate evolve that familiar.
An ultimate evolved familiar will have a new appearance, higher base stats, a fourth toy slot that can equip Special Toys, and can be ultimate awakened.
Note that after ultimate evolution, the familiar's level will be reset to 1, so you'll need to level it up to 30 again.
Once a familiar has been ultimate evolved, you can ultimate awaken it. It must first have reached Awakening Level 10. Then, in a similar process to awakening, use base copies of the familiar along with ultimate evolution fruits and gold in order to gain Ultimate Awakening levels.
Like normal awakening, raising a familiar's ultimate awakening levels will upgrade its stats and skills. Also, at ultimate awakening level 1, you will unlock a new passive skill for Familiar Adventure/Arena modes.

New materials are needed to upgrade familiars in preparation for ultimate evolution, and in ultimate awakening. These are elemental ultimate evolution fruits, and familiar courage bottles. These materials will be available as Familiar Grand Prix prizes, for exchange in the store with various other materials, and through varying events. However, your main source of these materials will likely be Familiar Adventure mode.
Numerous updates have been made to Familiar Adventure mode.
Familiar spots may now include Ultimate Evolution Fruits as rewards for clearing. These are indicated with the fruit markers on the map, and can appear on any level spot.
The ultimate evolution fruit indicator will also appear over the spot itself.
The fruit will be of the element of that search spot.
Review the information for an individual spot to see the exact rewards available. Both Ultimate Evolution Fruits and Special Toy boxes are potential rewards, with better rewards at higher level spots.
Upon clearing a search spot with ultimate evolution fruit rewards, there is a chance that a Familiar Adventure boss, Ghost Knight, will appear for 30 minutes. Early testing suggests its appearance rate is in the range of 1 in 60, or around 1-2 spawns per week if you are using around 10 tickets per day. Its element will be random, and it will have different skills based on what element it is. Defeating it will provide familiar courage bottles and special toy boxes.
The format is similar to the Giant Familiar events that occasionally run. Ghost Knight starts at level 1, and each time your team reduces its health to 0, it respawns at the next level, and your team keeps fighting. The battle ends when either your team runs out of HP or you run out the battle timer.
You will gain rewards based on how many phases of the boss battle you were able to clear.
A new class of toy is available, called Special Toys. These can be rolled from special toy boxes, which are hexagonal versions of the normal toy boxes. Each ultimate evolved familiar can slot 1 special toy. These toys will provide a boost to stats, and starting at 4*, an additional skill to the familiar. Unlike normal toys, special toy skills are not locked to any specific familiar. Skills include boosts to attack, defense, dodge rate, etc.Â
Special toys can be fused similar to normal toys, with certain restrictions:
Special toys cannot be fused with normal toys
You cannot use Fusion Kits on special toys to boost the success rate
