Swordsman is a close range class that is well-rounded and can do a little of everything -- attack, buff, debuff, heal, or tank -- but isn't excellent at any single thing compared to other classes. Dual Sword style allows him to focus more on DPS.
Swordsman's primary battle style, sword, is a solid class that can handle just about any role in a party, depending on what skills and familiars you put in your build. While not as good as the other classes which specialize in different aspects, his flexibility can be used to fill both a specific gap in a group or allow him to adjust playstyle in the middle of combat depending on situation.Â
Swordsman's secondary battle style, dual sword, is useful when you want to focus primarily on DPS. It is a much greedier battle style as most of its buffs only boost Swordsman instead of the whole party.
Each battle style has 3 normal attack skills, which can be leveled up as engineer gains levels. Levels carry over between styles. Normal attack skills deal damage of the element of your active weapon.

Each battle style has 1 passive skill which provides a set amount of buffs to complement its primary play style.

Increase resistance to CC effects by 5%

Burst skills are leveled up with each class rank earned. Levels are applied to both rifle and gatling styles. Burst attack skills deal damage of the element of your active weapon.
Swordsman channels power into his sword and swings it in a large arc in front of him. While skill is active, boosts defense of you and your party members. Extra damage is dealt to monsters.
At level 1:

Summons the power of light into his sword. Increases attack, converts all normal attack damage to light damage and increases damage to non-dark enemies, and reduces damage taken from all elements for your party.
