"A rock solid mod & impressive performer from yesteryear, still available at giveaway prices from several UK outlets. Very, very highly recommended"
The dual-18650 Legend V1 was introduced in around 2018 during the golden age of Geekvape build quality & long-term durability, rather than external eye candy & sales gimmick modes of their later devices.
The general external build quality of the Legend is imo absolutely breath-taking. I really can't envisage mods being built to this high standard ever again. It's useability has also greatly impressed me, I like it an awful lot more than I'd initially anticipated, instantly becoming one of my favourite 'go-to's.
Sure, dual-cell devices might be over the top for Dimitri, but If you're looking for something easy to live with that just & works extremely well, then I'd say these are well worth considering. And fortunately, they're still plentiful (currently retailing for just £21 inc shipping from at least one UK vendor at time of writing Oct 2025). Even at double this price, imo there are huge bargain, highly recommended.
These are the usual classic Geekvape modes. See this page for a detailed description of what they do (scroll down to "Modes of Operation")
Power Initial testing has shown very good overall performance in this mode, with thankfully no sign of the stainless steel firmware bug mentioned on this page (see section "Inaccuracies: Dialled-in vs Actual Wattages"). Note that in power mode, during a fire cycle, the displayed Wattage can jitter around by 0.5W or so, but this appears to be a firmware idiosyncrasy rather than a bug. In fact its Wattage accuracy is well within acceptable limits (very similar to my Arctic Fox Grus under the 30W 0.3Ω test conditions) and constant across different coil materials.
TC-NI, TC-SS, TC-TI, TC-TCR Temperature controlled modes. From brief initial testing, temperature control on the Legend V1 seems haphazard, & probably inadequate for Dimitri purposes. Since I no longer use TC, this isn't a real concern to me. Curiously the default TCR values for TC-TI and TC-SS seem to differ slightly from the Solo V1 & Max V1
VPC The usual 5 power levels. The first four are used for the first 4 seconds, with the 5th applied for the remainder until the fire cycle ends. It seems to work well.
Bypass Unlikely to be used for Dimitri. There's no info in the user manual, but tested by Vapey Mcgyver and results published here. Basically, it displays an output of ~4.15V, but the Voltage delivered to the coil depends on its resistance plus (to some extent) the state of charge of the cells, varying between ~3.5V at 0.17Ω upto ~4.1V for 0.6Ω. This mode can be ignored.
The Legend In Use
It's large and bulky, feels very substantial in handling, and makes regular tanks like the Destiny RTA appear considerably smaller.
From the instant of first power-up, I knew I was going to like this mod. Unlike the Solo V3, the display is capable of impressive brightness on all colour settings, all text fields continuously update during a fire cycle and the fire button is so large and very easy to find during extended Dimitri sessions in the dark. I appreciated this a lot more than I imagined.
In power mode, it performs closely to the Original Solo (i.e. brilliantly) and its large size means it's easy to stand up on less even surfaces (e.g. carpets)
A few minor niggles include the charging current, which I measured at fairly modest ~1A (1.5 to 2A on most of my other mods). As expected, the charge port is a USB-B (not the more modern USB-C) and it's buried deep under a rubber rubber plug on the top surface adjacent to the 510 connector. Therefore care is recommended when inserting the charging lead.
Also, the wattage increment interval is 0.1W (1W above a setting of 100W), which is a bit too small for my tastes (I'd prefer 0.5W). On the original Solo, a second-long press on the up/down buttons handily bumps up or down to the next Watt, but unfortunately the Legend doesn't do this, staying at 0.1W
However don't let these trivial gripes put you off. The Legend V1 really does seem a very credible mod which can be purchased at bargain prices from several UK retailers I'm using mine regularly and loving it!
Display has a bog-basic colour change function. The sheer size of the Legend makes its display appear small but it's the same size as the Solo V1 & Max V1
Pros & Cons
🙂 Handles Stainless Steel meshes/coils seamlessly without affecting power delivery (see Mod Box Guide scroll down to Inaccuracies: Dialled-in vs Actual Wattages)
🙂 Simplicity and ease of use, works faultlessly right out of the box in power mode, bright display, visible in external daylight. Absent of annoying gimmicks, a delightfully easy mod to use & live with ime.
☹️ Initial tests suggest temperature control performance isn't upto standard (but I no longer use TC modes anyway)
🙂 Incredible case build quality. Classis Geekvape rubber shockproofing, robustness and moisture resistance
😐 Arguably not as pretty as later mods (although I prefer the look and feel of the Legend 🙂). Built more as a rugged workhorse
😐 Dual 18650 - long time between charges but probably over the top for Dimitri use. Also only a modest ~1A charge rate measured on this mod (1.5-2A seems more usual)
🙂 Rubber/plastic not cold to the touch in cooler ambient temps, not a summer-only mod like my Lost Vape Grus/Thelemas
☹️ 0.1W power increment is too small for my tastes, I would have prefered 0.5W. Not a showstopper though.
☹️ Has USB-B charging port, no longer common on current generation of mods. It's also mounted in the top faceplate, so most tanks will need removing for charging
☹️ The charge port is somewhat buried within the rubber shockproofing, which might be ideal for liquid ingress protection but extra care needed when inserting the charge connector.
☹️ Dust tends to stick to the rubber shock-proofing exterior which can be unsightly
Top 510 faceplate, adjacent USB-B cover plug. Nicely sealed but IMO not an ideal location, and was sited on the lower side for the Solo V1 and Max V1.
Stunning build quality throughout. Profiled mouldings to prevent shorting of cells with damaged wraps, Solid sprung hinge and sturdy metal catch. Thick rubber sealing and the door fitted with no less than six pressure relief valves in case of battery venting. Not also the spung pogo pin (above and between the batteries) for monitoring/balancing cells
