Emesh Shopping List

Mod Box

This supplies controlled power via its standard "510" screw connector. Almost any mod will work with emesh when used for "Fixed Wattage", i.e. Power mode (which is recommended and the latest suggestion for noobs).  However, if intending to use Temperature Controlled (TC) mode, then only certain mods will be satisfactory.

Top recommended inexpensive mods for temperature control mode are the Original Geekvape Solo and Original Geekvape Mini, although these are now hard to find in some countries. See our list of recommended temp control emesh mods, but I emphsise once again that a TC-friendly mod is no longer required for the latest recommended emesh technique

Battery For Mod (If Required)

If your mod requires an external battery select a branded, unprotected, flat top cell which has a Continuous Discharge Rating (CDR) of at least 15A and preferably 20A. (18650 li-ions of this type might include Samsung 25R, LG HE2, Sony VTC5A, Molicel P28A). If you can't find a satisfactory datasheet or independent test data I don't recommend buying it.

An external charger will not normally be required (despite common claims to the contrary).  For the explanation of this and many other details see my video on vape batteries (right)

Mesh RDA

This screws onto the mod, supplying power to a heating element (i.e. the mesh) which is installed inside it.   These RDAs now a generation outdated but Chinese clone vendors Aliexpress (non-USA), Wish, and DhGate have a cloned Mesh Pro in stock.
Another option which is proving highly popular is the Cthluhu Iris (review here), which reportedly has far superior build quality.

Wish and DHGate have confirmed deliveries to the USA, but may be state-dependent.

Quality control issues with the clones are regular, so buy two or more.  The Mesh Pro can be found by searching for "Mesh Pro RDA" on one of the above vendor sites.

For more Mesh RDA options, see recommended list of RDAs

Extended Curved '810' DripTip Mouthpiece

Be wary of anyone telling you that these make no difference - I consider one of these to essential for comfort and safety by providing ...

Around 50-55mm length is recommended (perhaps slightly longer would be OK for generic tubing - see pic below). They're available in two fitting sizes, an '810' which will is designed to fit neatly into almost any RDA, 810 is the standard for "Direct To Lung" atomisers.  The other size is the '510' which will need an 810-510 adapter to fit your RDA (a little plastic adapter is normally included in the accessories together with the RDA).

These are easily available on the Chinese Vendors as mentioned above in the RDAs section.

Several have reported success using generic tubing squeezed into the stock driptip, perhaps with the aid of hot water to pre-soften the tubing.

Mesh Sheeting or roll

Vandy Vape rolls of woven mesh are available in ni80 (nichrome), kanthal (A1), and stainless steel (SS316L).  If intending to use temperature controlled mod, only stainless steel will work correctly.  If unable to find the Vandy rolls then generic stainless steel mesh sheeting can be cut to size (approx 9.5mm x 39mm for the Mesh Pro RDA) and used.

Mesh sizing on the Vandy rolls is quoted in mesh number (e.g.  #150,  #200,  #300), the higher the number the finer the mesh.  Mesh sheeting is often sold with the gauge quotes in microns, with approximate equivalents as

#150 = 100microns,               #200 = 75microns

#300 = 50 microns ,               #400 = 38 microns

I'd recommend #150 or #200 if available.  #300 will suffice but it's finer, quite spingy and more difficult to form into the correct shape.
