Intro
This has served Dimitri emesh community as the usual go-to emesh RDA. The overall design works extremely well with very few annoyances.
Genuine Mesh Pros are now extremely rare. Clones have been plagued by inconsistent & sometimes poor build quality, mainly relating to loosely engaging screw threads and wide-tolerance sizing on other parts. However if you can get a good one (which to be fair ime is likely), then it'll make a fantasic inter-dimensional rocketship. Also, most of the common QC issues have simple proven fixes, see Clone RDA Problems & Fixes
Typical Mesh Pro package, all good apart from the "cracker toy" screwdriver. I suggest binnng & instead using your own to avoid chewing the underside retainer screw head.
Availability
Nowdays, for official vendors I'm only aware of Aliexpress and even here the number of vendors has reduced over time. To my knowledge, current options are
If ordering from UK or another vape-friendly country, search Aliexpress for "Mesh Pro RDA"
Other countries - use Aliexpress but from a vendor who's selling vape kit disguised as other parts (e.g. car stickers). Several confirmed deliveries to USA have been reported
All countries - we currently have a trusted trader Discord member who has supplied these (and other kit) to most countries upon request. Send a message to Sour-Soup via Discord if interested
Search online/in local vape shops, you just might get lucky
Disguised "back door" links often appear in my suggested products list. Vendor links change regularly, so ask on the Discord for lastest info.
Verdict? If you wish to try emesh, then don't hesitate to buy a couple while they're still obtainable. The overall design is sound and good ones are imo almost ideal for emesh.
🙂 Community-proven design as a first class Dimitri emesh device
🙂 Wide familiarity & community support
🙂 Good value, simple to set up, large internal space, good spares package included
🙂 Easy to completely dismantle and clean
☹️ Quality control problems are common, see this page for common probs/simple solutions
☹️ Electrical surfaces often need polishing/cleaning (Autosol/isopropyl) to provide good contact/lower resistance
☹️ Becoming harder to obtain, concerns of total future dryup
☹️ Non captive parts easy to lose when fitting new mesh
Preparing From New
Suggest completely dismantling & washing all parts in isoproply. If a blue crosshead driver was included, use your own as it's a poor fit & can chew the head of the lower retainer screw. If it came with an orange tri-driver, these are ime fine.
Consider polishing the clamp plates and 510 centre pin lower head (e.g. autosol polish), which may help to reduce extraneous resistance fluctuations
Reassemble and allow to dry
Check that the clamp plates are not oversize, which will result in gaps & reduced mesh grip when closed. If needed, gently file the corners of the mesh clamp plates to ensure a better fit (see pics below). A small nail file is suitable.
Also, check for other common issues/apply fixes as outlined on this page
Dismantled for cleaning/polishing, take care not to lose the pieces. IME, supplied orange tri-drivers are quite good.
Slightly oversize clamp plates, which leave gaps when fully tightened which can cause loose mesh grip and poor electical contact. A very gentle filing on the plate corners is the usual swift remedy.
Setting Up For Use
Cut a piece of mesh ~ 9x39mm and install in clamps in the classic mushroom shape
Perform a red heat burn 3 secs or so (approx 30W setting)
Allow to cool, recheck clamp screws are firm
Mesh size - ~9.0mm x 39mm, nice flat top. Dips and valleys can cause pooling and runoff so recommend keeping it even
Two holes open on both sides - how I prefer to set my airflow inlet adjustment
Clamp grubscrews (left) are non-standard, have a protrusion that engages with holes in the clamp plates.
Right is the "squonk" 510 pin. Extended with a centre hole for "Squonk" juice feeding (not used for our purposes)
